4th World Non-Resident Malayali Convention – 31st December 2013 at Lake Palace Resort, Aleppey
We are pleased to inform you that the 4th World Non-Resident Malayali Convention is being held on 31st December 2013 at 10.00 am to 5.00 pm at the Lake Palace Resort, Aleppey. This Convention will focus on Non-Resident Malayalees, their role, their issues, concerns and contribution towards the development of Kerala.
Honourable Governor Shri K Shankaranarayan has kindly agreed to grace the occasion.

Shri E Ahamed - Msinister of State for External Affairs
Shri Kodikunnel Suresh - Minister of state for Labour
It is hoped that such a convention at an international level will provide a positive impact on the state and the central government, as well as the international Malayali community. Further, the Convention will project opportunities for investment in Kerala and offer a common platform for non-resident Malayalees to interact with each other for economic and social development in our state.The Convention aims to bring together non-resident Malayalees, living in diverse areas across the globe, bound together by common cultural ties and interests to work with mutual understanding and collective responsibilities. This should result in the formulation of strategic objectives for the progression of the welfare of the citizens and the country.
The following are the areas of discussion at the Convention:
Introduce rehabilitation projects for Malayalees who have been evicted especially from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia as part of the localisation programme by Arab nations
Start Pravasi Co-Operative Societies for economic rehabilitation of Gulf returned Malayalees
Air India is not giving due importance to the Kerala – Gulf Sector and therefore influence our National Carrier to secure favourable rates and prevent cancellation of scheduled flights without notice
Start a Pravasi University in Kerala
Introduce Contributory Pension Schemes for non-resident Malayalees
Provide legal assistance to release Malayalees from jails in the Gulf countries
Change the attitude and standards of service provided by local Indian embassies to their nationals ensuring that the rights of non-resident Malayalees are protected.
